The Great American Eclipse

Seana Collins and I decided to record a THA>HIJAC show on the Great American Eclipse of 2018; the total solar eclipse which will be visible in the USA on Monday 21st August. The path of totality travels from the West coast to the East coast with the point of greatest eclipse over Nashville.

The Eclipse is a New Moon (all Solar Eclipses are) as the Moon meets the Sun by conjunction and obscures it from the Earth’s view. The shadow cast by the moons obscuration of the Sun is an awesome spectacle and a hugely symbolic event which throughout history has been considered to be an omen or message from God foretelling times of hardship, illness and war (among other things). You can read my previous blog post about Eclipses and Lunar Gestation Cycles here.

The Eclipse Effect

This particular New Moon is at 28º Leo. This is a poignant degree for the USA as it aligns with the birth chart of the US President Donald Trump whose ascendant is 29º Leo with Mars rising. Trump has a Gemini Sun and Sagittarius Moon. Not only was he born on a Full Moon (think of that larger than life character), but Trump was born on a lunar eclipse! This makes him even more sensitive to the eclipse effect. Having this particular eclipse on his Ascendant, whilst it is visible to an enormous portion of North America is a very interesting phenomena.  Have a listen to our Great American Eclipse show! While you are there, check out some of our other shows that we have been making lately and let us know what you think in the comments!

Below is a video demonstrating the path of totality with a close up of the area covers by the greatest point of eclipse. Harper the gatecrasher!

Welcome to my 5th Vlog of 2016! This week it took a little longer than expected as I had to do so many takes and at one point my video was gate-crashed by my sisters cat, Harper! Sadly she didn’t make the final cut but I’m sure she will be in future videos because the camera loves her!

I am getting better at planning my Vlogs and the positive feedback is really keeping me going when I feel like I’m not doing such a great job!

I keep getting lots of ideas about how I can make my Vlogs better but I am open to suggestion so please let me know if you have any suggestions for me or if there is a particular subject you would like covered. I have  lots of ideas myself, I just need to get things started really!

I have lots of plans for my videos so watch this space – I’m hoping to get them looking and sounding a little more professional soon. So this week’s video blog was a little improvised, even though I did quite a lot of preparation my notes weren’t up to the grade!  A lesson learned for next time.

Enjoy!

New Moon 19 Aquarius

NewMoon ooohNew Moon Wish Lists are a great way to get your current desires and motivations down on paper before handing them over to the seeding quality of the New Moon. It is also a fun practice and a useful habit to get into – a little like a monthly to do/bucket list or a cosmic ordering technique for the Law of Attraction.

The benefit of creating a New Moon Wish List is being able to keep track of your progress from month to month for as long as you keep creating wish lists. If you are someone who regularly writes journals like I do, you will have no problem integrating this practice into your routine. However, If you find yourself a little forgetful and in need of a reminder to create your list, you can use your phone to set a reminder and even make and keep the list stored on there, too. It can be saved in your online diaries, like Google Calendar, which can be accessed via your smart phone, or on a laptop/PC, keeping them stored for easy reference. I’ve written my New Moon Wish Lists on Post-Its, used envelopes, random notebooks and on the appropriate page of my diary – it does help to have everything written in the same location but there is no hard and fast rule.

Ideally your wishes will be personal and you can ask for things like an organised sock draw (did I really just suggest that?) or more focus at work. You could ask for world peace, or perhaps an end to cruelty in humanity, though the wish lists aren’t really designed for collective wishes. However, if your chart is being picked up by an outer planet transit or you are an Outer Planet Person (OPP) natally, by all means these intentions have a right to be expressed though your wish list. New Moon Capricorn

The Deep Desire For Change

On January 10th 2016 at 10:01am GMT, a New Moon occurs at 19° degrees Capricorn and is part of the first Mercury Retrograde of 2016. The New Moon in Capricorn underpins the long term effects of Mercury’s rather introspective Journey back to Hades, by personalising the experience and locking into your aspirations for the future. In Mythology, the New Moon is attributed to the goddess Persephone, who is kidnapped by Hades (Pluto) from her mother Demeter, and taken into the murky depths of the underworld by Hades where her innocence is taken from her. During this New Moon, Persephone does meet Hades (aka Pluto) as both the Sun and Moon are together at the same degree in Capricorn and in very close quarters to Pluto (aka Hades). During this time, Uranus in Aries challenges the New Moon and Pluto by creating friction from a 90° angle. This New Moon is the seeding process of adjustment and transformation. There may be a sudden shift in priorities, a realisation that something must change accompanied by the ‘knowing’ that these adjustments will up-root your stable foundations and require a complete reinvention of structure, boundaries and the traditions that you may have grown familiar, and comfortable with. Capricorn is not adverse to change and can manoeuvre the most arduous terrains. The difficulty with the change described in this New Moon is the need to strip down to the bare bones of what is essential to the evolution of the Sea Goat, and experience something that forces maturation. It may not appear immediately obvious, it may also not seem to be such an enormous overhaul, but the full extent of this New Moon’s implications will become more apparent as the light of the moon waxes up to full.

Persephone enjoyed her time in the underworld with Hades and decided that she would spend half the year with him and half the year with her mother. The joy and freedom she experienced when away from her mother kept her coming back for more, tying up with my recent post about Mercury Retrograde and toxic frienships. The early part of 2016 may be a trigger for the shedding of certain toxic relationships, granting the opportunity to grow. Mercury Retrograde Jan 2016 ~ Toxic Tradition and Liberation

Mercury and the Sun

There are a few challenging aspect configurations during the first Mercury Retrograde of 2016 which commences with a tight square to Mars residing in the Via Combusta. Concluding with a conjunction to Pluto at 14° Capricorn, Mercury will revisit the point he entered pre-shadow on 20th December 2015. The involvement of Uranus and Pluto provoke discussion about stagnant ideologies, antiquated systems and corruption in once respected governing bodies. On a personal level, friendships, the social group and those with a common purpose will be highlighted.  If Mercury aspects any of your natal planets during this period, the effects of this Retrograde will be experienced personally.

Mercury Retrograde Dates for the Diary:

20 Dec: Enters Pre-Shadow 14°58’ Cap 00:26 GMT

4 Jan: Stationed Retrograde 00°57’ Aqu 13:05 GMT
26 Jan: Mercury Stations Direct 14°58′ Cap 21:50 GMT

14 Feb: Mercury Exits Shadow 00°57’ Aqu 16:49 GMT

On January 4th Mercury stations Retrograde whilst squaring Mars at 0° Scorpio, in the Via Combusta. It may feel impossible to move forward unless heated words are expressed. Mercury is objective in Aquarius, and seeks validation through discussion with friends and those with common interests. There are deep undercurrents surrounding a potentially volatile situation where loyalties may be tested. The authenticity of friendships may be called into the fray – Mars challenges truth which may have been handled well until he crossed the threshold from diplomatic Libra into cutting Scorpio.

On the evening of January 8th Mercury ingresses back into Capricorn. In trine, Jupiter in Virgo provides practical assistance and sage advice to Mercury, his student. Jupiter adds a philosophical edge to the thought process whilst providing meaning which gives us faith. With both Mercury and Jupiter travelling backwards in retrograde motion, this is a very positive introspective process and a good way for both planets to resolve issues and bring ideas into the physical realm.
